“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education alone will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” ~ Calvin Coolidge (from “Begin It Now” by Susan Hayward)
Just a little reminder today not to give up on your hopes and dreams. Many of humanity’s greatest successes have come from some of the most surprising places. Some of our greatest writers and artists faced countless rejections.
Even if you just take one small step each day to reach your goal, to make a positive change in your life, or to change something in the world around you, that persistence can mean the difference between success and failure.
You can dream all day long of becoming a famous artist or musician and have immeasurable talent; but if all you do is languish about and wish it were true, without ever picking up your paintbrush or your instrument, you’ll be stuck in the same place until you do.
If fear of rejection keeps you from moving forward, sure, you’re avoiding rejection, but you’re also avoiding success. Don’t give up! You can do it, I know you can!
